Humans are hard wired to “chase” things: goals, dreams, other humans, etc….Thanks to the dopamine feedback loop, our brains like to seek rewards. And, nothing is more rewarding (and disappointing) than chasing down a goal. Without goals, we lack enthusiasm, feel adrift, ask questions like, “What am I doing with my life…??” With goals, we can become obsessive, driven and can be seriously hard to live with. At the same time, some of us are so afraid or overwhelmed by the goals we set that we give up almost immediately. The answer? Set smaller, realistic goals that bring you closer your dream. But, DO SET GOALS.
